Is deindustrialisation a cause for concern Coursework

Is deindustrialisation a cause for concern - Coursework Example The first and foremost negative impact of deindustrialization involves transition and reduction in employment trends. With the reduction in industrial capacity of developed economies, the employment levels in these sectors are bound to decrease. The people employed in these sectors will be gradually reduced or eliminated which pose the inevitable problem of unemployment or altering the skill set to adjust themselves to other emerging markets, which particularly involves the service sector. Another major setback of deindustrialization is the growing divide on economic terms that is growing gap between rich and poor in particular. The people who are most reliant upon manufacturing sectors are the ones who will suffer most when there is a transition of manufacturing economy to a service sector-based economy. While this group of people will suffer most economically, who will find themselves either out of employment or willing to work on very low wages just to keep the ball rolling, on th e other hand will be people who are already working in the service sector and face better prospects in future as the sector grows. This is what happened in Detroit where deindustrialization has resulted in an increase in unemployment and growing divide between rich and poor. Detroit was famous for its automotive industry and with a high proportion of people employed in this industry; the residents enjoyed a high standard of living. This was not for long as Detroit faced deindustrialization and automotive companies soon began to migrate to the southern US states or other countries to take advantage of lower wages. As a result, the people who were employed in this automotive industry faced huge employment crisis and the income per capita in this particular area has been alarmingly low in the recent past. In addition to this, people have started to leave for pastures new to bring an improvement to their deteriorating living standards. As a result of deindustrialization, manufacturing s ector consists of the smallest share of US workforce in more than a hundred years (Boundless, n.d.). The same concept applies with other nations where the inequality has been on a rise with the developed economies such as United States, Unite Kingdom, Japan, France and Germany focusing on value added products, particularly services. On the other hand have been the developing and industrializing nations such as China, India and Indonesia who focus on manufacturing. The trends indicate that the economic disparity between developed and developing nations have been on a rise due to manufacturing. (International Monetary Fund, 1997) The most significant factor of deindustrialization has however not been discussed much by the analysts, maybe because they have underestimated the potential problem at hand. Although we live in a world of globalization, it must be noted that a fully globalized world on the basis of competitive advantage is just a theory and not practical. This cannot be put i nto practice because a country should be sustainable to meet the demand of at least the important and essential products, for example eatables. It is true that the current economic circumstances require developed nations to turn to value added products such as services. But in order to be a sustainable economy,

Seamus Heaney Essay -- English Literature

Seamus Heaney Seamus Heaney was born in 1939 in Northern Ireland into a rural farming family. The family where Catholic, living in a predominantly Protestant area of the country. I can relate to this as I come from South Africa where the tension between the black and white people is high, this has helped me to choose my first poem "Docker". The second poem I am going to analyse is "Follower" which tells the story of a young boy who grows up admiring his dad but as time ticks by, things change and people age. The third and final poem I will analyse is "Digging" which also is about a young lad who admires his dad for his skill, but feels bad because he isn't as skilled as his father is and therefore chooses to dig with his pen in the form of poetry. The poem Docker starts off with "there, in the corner" from this it can be seen that the man is a lonely man who does not want to be bothered, all he is doing is staring at his drink. "Speech clamped in the lips, vice" this use of metaphor indicates that he is a anti social person with the word "vice" once again describing the mans power and strength. The Docker is then described as a hard and tough man, "Cowling plated forehead and sledge head jaw" because he is compared with very hard objects, such as a sledge head which is made out of steel. "That fist would drop a hammer on a Catholic" this verse is of a violent nature which confirms the Docker as a violent aggressive man who clearly does not like Catholics. The mans dislike for Catholics is emphasised even more in the following verse "The only Roman collar he tolerates, smiles all round his sleek pint of porter". From this it can be said that even the white foam made by his beer reminds him of Cath... ...ss. "I wanted to grow up and plough" this proves that like with all little boys, he wanted to be just like his dad when he grows up. He follows his father all round the farm "In his broad shadow" which again describes the mans huge build and strength. In this poem, the first five stanzas represent the past, whereas the last stanza represents the present. "I was a nuisance, tripping and falling" The boy, who is now a man, comes to realise he was clumsy and unskilful who was always bothering his father "Yapping always". "But today" is the main contrast between past and present, "It is my father who keeps stumbling behind me and will not go away" His father has obviously aged and become enfeebled while his son has now grown up and become more powerful and skilful than what his father is. It is his father who follows him around now and will not go away.

On the other hand, people who really concern about money, everything to purchase needs to be calculated precisely, so that they do not over budget. The Laws Of The Law - 1814 Words

There is no absolute definition of law to describe what the law actually is. My definition of law is legal system of rules which a particular country can used to organization the society and defines the rights for obligations of any person. with a view to the development the society and the state also can preservation of security and stability of the state. The theory of political obligation is to have a moral responsibility to obey the laws of the state (Richard and Daivid, 2007). Concerning this point, there are different views among political philosophers. The reasons that I agree to obey the law can be related to self-interest and could demonstrates to comply with legal rules for some reasons other than moral obligations .Would†¦show more content†¦I think the concept of the social contract could be described as a person living in a state of nature with no government in order to secure and conservation self of pain, poor and solitary. Population accepted the contract with the state to achieve the self-protection. which I think seems to be fair in order to secure self-interest. Sharon ,(2002), states that according to Thomas Hobbes, humans would have to voluntarily- give their rights and freedom in order to the contract to succeed. However, I agree that it is obvious that Hobbs’ point of view is more logical that every human nature be likely towards selfishness and irrational instinct. However, I believe that even if people rationality they still need to be controlled by government and obey the law to live safety and peaceful in the state. I obey the law for the reason that I believe human nature generally tends towards selfishness .I believe that human beings choose to get the greatest benefit for themselves rather than giving it to others and live for themselves. In one way or another people in general are more inclined to have personal advance to get what they want. For example, I believe if people like hold being selfish, they can become enemies and try to destroy each other. In this case, I think that can create human beings ‘are more competition and selfishness are to create violence and civil war to achieve personal gains. I argue that human beings are not capable
